  • The Department of Cannabis Control is launching a grant program to encourage counties to allow retail cannabis sales.

  • The Department of Cannabis Control has also requested that the attorney general issue a written opinion as to whether consensual interstate cannabis activity between licensees would result in significant legal risk, the first step in exploring a program allowing such activity.

  • A bipartisan bill promoting medicinal cannabis research for military veterans has been refiled in the Senate after being revised to allow the Department of Veterans Affairs greater control over the process.

  • A bill introduced in the California State Assembly would make it easier for cannabis dispensaries to sell food and beverages, allowing for consumption lounges similar to cannabis cafes in Amsterdam.

  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has met with a group of GOP senators to discuss the next steps for crafting a passable cannabis reform bill.
